A1 certificate

The A1 certificate confirms that an employee posted to another EU/EEA country or Switzerland remains insured in Lithuania and no social security contributions are due there. We prepare the application to Sodra and make sure the certificate is issued on time.

Who needs it

Without an A1 — fines and double contributions

Foreign authorities ask to see the A1 certificate during inspections. Without it, the employee may become subject to that country’s social security law, and the company may face fines.

What we do

From application to certificate

Application to Sodra

We prepare and submit the application through Sodra’s electronic system and attach the required documents.

Compliance check

Before filing we assess whether the company and the employee meet the conditions: activity in Lithuania, insurance period, length of posting.

Deadlines and extension

The certificate is usually issued within a few working days and is valid for the posting period (up to 24 months). We take care of extensions or a new certificate.

What employers ask

Yes — formally the certificate is required from the first day of the posting. Some countries check even one-day trips.
An exception can be requested under an agreement between the states, or the insurance state can be changed. We assess which option suits you.
